The Canary Islands, also known as "The Canaries" are a collection of islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the Western Coast of Africa.  The main islands are;Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, La Graciosa, Alegranza and Montaña Clara althought there are lots of smaller islands too.

 The islands are Spanish and the farthest archipelgo of Europe.  However, being so close to Africa, many Africans arrive to try to find work to be sent away.  The islands are a major tourist attraction bringing about 12 million visitors a year to the sun soaked beaches and nightlife.
